11th July - Weed Update - We are now weed free!
It is with great pleasure that we can announce that the lake is now clear of weed, and it would also appear that it has now been treated to inhibit weed growth.
It appears that the council/parks department had the weed cleared on the 10th July, and shortly afterwards the water was treated with the "blue dye", to inhibit it's growth. We are grateful to the council and parks department for their assistance with resolving the weed issue. We now hope to get back on track with our events calendar!
4th July - Weed Update...
The impact has been to such an extent that a working party visited the lake on the 21st June with the aim of clearing the weed. Cooperation had been sought from Southend Council / Parks Department for the water to be treated after the clearance to prevent a recurrence of growth. Sadly, for whatever reason, we now find ourselves two weeks on, almost right back where we started. Further cooperation from Southend Council and the Parks Department is being sought to find a solution to the problem, however for the time being we have no other option but to cancel another event.
Many of you may now be aware of the problems we've been experiencing with weed at the lake.
Over the last month or so the growth of weed has had a significant impact on the usability of our lake.
